For the next “Hour of Singing,” Jaroslav Uhlíř has prepared a real musical treat for his audience – a concert program of the greatest hits, in which he performs together with a great backing band in a classic rock formation.
Audiences can look forward to unforgettable songs created by Jaroslav Uhlíř mainly in collaboration with Zdeněk Svěrák – Holubí dům, Severní vítr, Není nutno, and many others.
In his youth, he sang in the Children’s Choir of Czechoslovak Radio under the direction of Bohumil Kulínský. He sang in various café dance groups. He became a member of the groups Prominence and Faraon. Later, he was employed as a composer at Czechoslovak Radio, where he met Zdeněk Svěrák. He appeared in the regular television program Hitšaráda, which he hosted together with lyricist and presenter Karel Šíp. This was followed by the entertainment show Galašaráda. Together with Šíp and Petra Janů, they formed the satirical group Triky a pověry.
Jaroslav Uhlíř composed music for the films Long Live the Spirits!, Run, Top!, Lotrando and Zubejda, or With Devils, There Are No Jokes. He collaborated with Zdeněk Svěrák on the musical television program for children Hour of Singing (1988 to 2017). In addition to songs, the program produced a number of short operettas (About Budulínek, About the Twelve Months) and three of them became the basis for the film Three Brothers.
He composed music for Schelinger’s songs “Holubí dům” and “Jabloňový list.” In 2005, he composed music for the song “Ani k stáru,” which was used a year later on the soundtrack for the film Returnable Bottles (2006).
During the Zlín Film Festival in 2014, he received an award for his creative contribution to film production for children and youth. In 1977, he was briefly a member of the Jára Cimrman Theater ensemble, where he acted as a conductor in the play Cimrman in the Realm of Music, later trying out the role of Bárta in the play Záskok.
